Objective

To provide managers with the key principles for planning and managing projects successfully. This is a very practical programme, where project managers will have experience using the tools on one of their own planned projects, providing them with an opportunity to apply the learning to a work assignment throughout the learning experience.

By the end of the workshop, managers will be able to:-

• Identify the reasons that projects often fail
• Have a clear structure for managing a project from beginning to end (guided by the PRINCE2 methodologies)
• Use the tools and processes for managing projects effectively
• Write a business case for a project and scope a project effectively
• Develop a project plan for given project, including a risk assessment, contingency plan, resource and communications plan.

Output

• I have a clear plan for my project and have confidence that the project will be delivered on time and within costs
• I am now aware of the potential pitfalls and have a way of monitoring and managing my project to minimise those potential risks which I did not have before this workshop.
• This has opened my eyes to the things I need to consider when managing this project and has made me aware of steps I need to allow for to ensure that it is successful.
