Management Training:
Building and leading teams
Objective
To provide managers with the skills required to effectively lead and motivate a team, and to enhance their effectiveness as a team member within their peer group.
By the end of the workshop, managers will be able to:-
- Identify the characteristics of a high performing team and assess their own team against these characteristics.
- Understand the impact of changes in a team situation and the stages of team development
- Identify their own contribution to any team that they lead as well as teams that they participate in.
- Develop an action plan to maximise the effectiveness of any team that they lead
- Develop an action plan to improve their own effectiveness as a team member
Content
- Characteristics of a high performing team
- Stages of team development
- Assessment - understanding team dynamics
- Identifying your own unique contribution to the team
- Key considerations when communicating with other team members to maximise effectiveness and gain buy in and support
Outputs
- I now understand my own style and what I bring to a team either as their leader or as a team member and what I need to focus on to maximise the effectiveness of the teams in which I work.
- I have a better understanding of my team members (my peer group / staff) and have greater clarity on how I need to approach different situations
- This has given me a great insight, we now work so much better together, we work together rather than against each other. N.B. this workshop can be tailored to include a pre workshop team analysis to be used as key focus for workshop - extremely effective if used for team who normally work together
